Rose Quartz is a silicon dioxide crystal and one of the most prevalent Quartz kinds. The gentle rose tint, which ranges from pale pink to deep reddish pink, inspired its name. It normally appears as a huge crystal, but it can also develop in clusters of little prismatic crystals. It ranges in transparency from opaque to translucent to hazy. 

According to legend, Rose Quartz was formed when Adonis, the Greek (and Roman) goddess Aphrodite’s lover, was attacked by Ares, the god of war, disguised as a boar. When Aphrodite ran to save him, she tripped over a briar bush, and their blood mixed together, turning the white Quartz pink.
